Highland Soccer Systems is the Mad River Valley's soccer solution for the advanced player, directed by Valley-transplant Don Haddox. After growing up in a soccer-rich environment and playing soccer for the now U.S. Developmental Academy, Internationals Soccer Club, Coach Haddox honed his skills at local powerhouse Hiram College winning 3 consecutive Conference Championships. Eventually captaining the squad and anchoring a defense that amassed a 24-2-1 conference record (with 36 overall wins) during that time, Coach Haddox garnered All-Conference commendations and then continued to play in the semi-professional Lake Erie League after college.
Now, after having been involved in the sport for more than 40 years, Coach Don holds National level coaching certification from the United States Soccer Federation (USSF), Advanced National level certification from the United Soccer Coaches (formerly the NSCAA), the National Youth Diploma from world-renowned Coerver Training Systems as well as the Level 2 Goalkeeping Diploma from the NSCAA.
In his team coaching capacity, he has led local high school teams to three State Championship appearances as well as four additional final-four appearances in his time in Vermont; served as both a team head coach and the head goalkeeper's coach in the Vermont Olympic Development Program (ODP); been a Senior Staff Coach with a local premier club earning multiple trips to the USYSA Regional Championships, and Fall Academy Director of that Club; as well as organizing and running the entire U6 & U8 community programs in the Mad River Valley. Most recently, Coach Don has moved laterally to assume a head coach position with the oldest Premier Club in Vermont, leading a giant pool of U9 & U10 players in pursuit of their soccer dreams.
Joining him on the HSS staff, as needed in different camp settings, will be additional nationally licensed coaches, both male and female.
